2006 gimmix
born from a love of performance and ‘taking the piss seriously’, the gimmix thrive on short and sharp comical moments/ statements often relying on a gimmick to bring ‘wow’ to the more serious message of human impact on mother earth.
gimmicks employed include sound and image triggers, non-2d screens, stereo photography (3d) and in particular the anaglyph version of stereo imaging where red/cyan filters assist the viewer to see 3d images on a 2d surface.

2005 gimmix Christopher Langton Studio Launch
unlikely to get some ‘chicks dancing in a cage’ Christopher Langton commissioned the Gimmix to create a work (happening) activating inflatable wings as a ‘non-2d’ screen. set amongst a warehouse full of inflatable artworks, and inflatable bar and a stage hosting acts like ‘the bubble man’, the Gimmix received the exciting review of “who the hell do they think they are?” by a disgruntled audience member.
concept: employing 2 sets of inflatable wings as the non-2d screen, a narrative of birds in captivity ends in bloodshed
materials: 2 sets of inflatable wings, projectors and operator, existing human sized cages with winch motors, pre-recorded triggered sounds, masked archer.
