2003 thesis

BA of Interior Design at RMIT:

before ‘social architecture’ was even a thing, Ender (at this point O’Callaghan) observed the growing prevalence of screens in our lives…  quick observations revealed the passive behaviours of humans associated with ‘immersing’ themselves in these small flat worlds.  as an extrovert also connected to the ever-inspiring natural world she quickly set about finding more imaginative ways to integrate screens into architecture and thus activating human bodies and minds.

2003 thesis

a series of immersive screening environments seeking to activate audience

by assigning the audience an active role such as being the ‘image’ the ‘sound’ or the ‘screen’ the event demands audience participation/ interactivity.  it often slow for audience to respond to the ‘demands’ but the affect proved was always ‘electric’ and ever evolving during the series of events.

concept: identifying and manipulating the audience vs. screen(ing) relationship

materials: Perspex sheets, vinyl cut text, projectors (multiple slide and data), cheese & biscuits, microphones, speakers, PA and sub-woofers
